Cultural Triangle

Located in the geographical heart of Sri Lanka, the triangle has as its points three ancient capitals, together spanning 2500 years of history: Kandy in the south, Anuradhapura in the north and Polonnoruwa in the east. Within the triangle are unique cultural marvels such as the 1st Century BC cave temple of Dambulla, the 183 metre-high granite hill fortress of Sigiriya and the vast archaeological site of Polonnoruwa: three wonderful World Heritage Sites.

Kandy

The last seat of the ancient Sinhalese kings, this attractive city contains the stunning Buddhist Temple of the Tooth Relic, a World Heritage Site near the large scenic lake. After a temple visit, it is well worth strolling through town to catch the relaxed atmosphere. A visit to nearby Udawattakale, the forbidden forest of the ancient Kandyan kings, will reveal quarrelsome troops of dusky toque macaque monkeys.

Hunas Falls Hotel
The hotel is situated in the foothills of the spectacular Hunasgiriya mountain range outside Kandy, surrounded by cascading waterfalls, open pastures, lush tea plantations, misty cloud forest, a boating lake and awe-inspiring scenery. The air-conditioned rooms come with large private balcony, and facilities include a mini golf course, swimming pool, children’s games room and floodlit tennis court.

This relaxed yet full itinerary gives plenty of pleasurable time by the sea, while offering much of cultural and interior interest – while not by the sea, you will enjoy the benefit of having a private guide and vehicle. Boat trips along jungle waterways, watching baby elephants being bathed, marvelling at the Buddhist splendour of the Tooth Temple in Kandy, learning about tropical plants and swimming in warm seas and clear pools – all await you on this charming journey, perfect for families with younger children.
