Bocas Del Toro

A Caribbean archipelago of mangrove islands and calm waters, cosmopolitan Bocas del Toro is the country’s most popular marine location with visitors. The largest island, Colon, contains Bocas town, with its shops, bars, restaurants and numerous small hotels. Offshore there are other islands, including Isla Bastimentos National Marine Park with its reefs for snorkelling and diving, one or two restaurants and a few hotels of varying standard. Sloths and monkeys can be seen on Colon, and of particular interest is the local endemicity of red Dendrobates poison dart frogs, with various colourations found on different islands.

Tranquilo Bay Resort
Ideally situated within the national marine park on Bastimentos Island, the secluded, family-run resort has a small number of comfortable, unpretentious cabanas with jungle or sea views. It boasts more than a kilometre of Caribbean coastline, over a mile of trails in 110 acres of private reserve and foreshore comprising three ecosystems – rainforest, mangrove and coral reef. Although the resort is set far back from any beach, boats are hired for snorkelling trips and to enjoy a day on one of the many family-safe beaches found in the archipelago.

A marvellously varied itinerary for families of all ages, combining the abundant wildlife found in the verdant canal rainforests, an idyllic island set in a Caribbean marine park, and the beautiful sandy beaches of the Pacific coast, and offering a wealth of activities and other possibilities for your family’s full enjoyment.  A really relaxing and stimulating tour, with the emphasis on marine enjoyment but with plenty of jungle wildlife. Find out more...
