An itinerary for adventurous families with older children which reveals the best wildlife habitats to be found in Costa Rica. In the Caribbean rainforests you can discover sloths and colourful poison dart frogs; the iridescent resplendent quetzal lives high in the lush cloud forests of Savegre; howler, spider and squirrel monkeys inhabit the towering coastal rainforests of the Osa – the country’s wildest region.  Day
  1. Depart London. Arrive San Jose. Tfr to hotel. O/n Bougainvillea Hotel, BB.
  2. Tfr to Sarapiqui area. Afternoon at leisure. O/n La Quinta de Sarapiqui Lodge, BB.
  3. Morning private guided tour of La Selva Biological Station. Afternoon at leisure. Night walk at Tirimbina reserve for nocturnal wildlife. O/n La Quinta de Sarapiqui Lodge, BB.
  4. Morning rafting on the Sarapiqui River, lunch included. Afternoon at leisure. O/n La Quinta de Sarapiqui Lodge, BB.
  5. Tfr to Savegre. Rest of day at leisure. O/n Cabinas Chacon, FB.
  6. Morning guided birdwatching in private cloud forest reserve. Afternoon at leisure to walk trails through forest to waterfalls. O/n Cabinas Chacon, FB.
  7. Morning guided birdwatching walk in the reserve. Afternoon at leisure. O/n Cabinas Chacon, FB.
  8. Tfr to San Jose. Fly to Palmar Sur. Boat tfr to the Osa Peninsula. Afternoon at leisure. O/n Casa Corcovado Jungle Lodge, FB.
  9. Full day at Caño Island Biological Reserve with snorkelling. O/n Casa Corcovado Jungle Lodge, FB.
  10. Guided visit to Corcovado National Park. O/n Casa Corcovado Jungle Lodge, FB.
  11. Day at leisure. Optional: boat trip to secluded beach with picnic lunch. O/n Casa Corcovado Jungle Lodge, FB.
  12. Tfr back to Palmar Sur. Fly to San Jose. Tfr to hotel. O/n Finca Rosa Blanca Inn, BB.
  13. Tfr to San Jose airport. Catch return flight.
